Panarea, the smallest and nicest of Aeolian islands
Panarea is the smallest of the
Aeolian Islands – but it is also the most striking and interesting, perfect for the ideal
vacation.

Enjoy well-deserved relaxation in the midst of luscious natural beauty, or take advantage of the opportunities for adventure that
Panarea has to offer – both at sea and on land. You can reach some bays by foot, such as Calcara, for a glimpse of the fumaroles, whose vapours escape from the yellow and red sulphureous rocks.
Then there is Cala Junco, one of the most beautiful along the coastline of
Panarea, and interesting from a historical point of view. On the promontory are the remains of huts from a settlement that dates back to the Bronze Age (14th century BC). With a
gozzo, the typical boat of the
Aeolian Islands, which you can rent on a daily basis, you can visit the small and amazing archipelago surrounding
Panarea.
It’s comprised of the tiny islands of Basiluzzo, Spinazzola, Dattilo, Bottaro, and Lisca Bianca (where Antonioni’s legendary “L’Avventura” was filmed). At
Panarea, contrary to the larger
Aeolian Islands, no cars are allowed. Their very absence makes for a
vacation where time stands still, permeated with perfumes, sounds, and colours that you had forgotten existed. During your
vacation on the island, you will learn to love the gecko, a pleasant version of the lizard. It is totally harmless and quite useful as a predator of insects.
For those who prefer a livelier
vacation,
Panarea has a variety of restaurants where you can taste the excellent, traditional cuisine of the
Aeolian Islands - and nightspots where you can enjoy the long, warm summer nights. For those in search of handmade and unique products, fashionable boutiques can be found near the port.
The ideal
vacation at
Panarea should last at least one week. If you have the good fortune to be able to pick your
vacation time, we suggest the magical months of June and September.
